Summary Description

Abertillery in the Ebbw Fach was industrialised later than the settlements further up the valley. A tin plate works arrived in 1846 and deep mining started in 1850 The site is at the confluence of the Ebbw Fach and the Tyleri rivers with the street clinging to the hillside.
