There are 3 levels of listing: Grade I, II* & II. The majority of buildings which are of special interest are Grade II. A much smaller number of particularly important buildings are listed as Grade II*. Buildings of exceptional interest (approx 2% of the total number of listed buildings) are Grade I.

A description of the history and archaeology of the church and its site.
The church which may have a C5 foundation was first recorded in 1173. In the early C19 the churchwardens organised repairs but these were insufficient to stop the rot so in 1868 David Vaughan was employed to restore the church. He did so by almost completely but sympathetically rebuilding the church so keeping its medieval feel. This provided a church with seating for 150 worshippers at a cost of £1,565. His repairs did keep the chancel arch and the medieval font. A vestry was added in 1933

A description of the exterior of the church and the main features of the churchyard.
This is a small church of chancel with a nave, a west bellcote, a south porch and smaller and narrower chancel and a north vestry. It was built with coursed rubble Pennant sandstone with Bathstone quoins and dressings, and all under slate roofs with raised copings and cross finials. Vaughan incorporated blocks of pink conglomerate into the walls. The west bellcote is supported on a corbelled relieving arch, it has stepped sides and a gabled roof to the bell chamber. On the south side of the nave is a gabled porch with a steeply pitch roof offset to its left with a sundial from 1988 mounted above the arch. There are decorative C20 steel gates and inside are stone benches and a quarry tiled floor

The nave is entered through a pointed arched door and has a scissor braced roof as does the chancel which is entered under a small pointed chancel arch of grey stone which has C15 dressings, 3 orders of mouldings and narrow attached shafts to the interior jambs with rounded fluted caps. The wall plates in the chancel and nave are so far apart that diagonal rafter act as braces between the wall plates and common rafters. The floor of the nave has a coloured quarry tile floor. The medieval octagonal font has chip-carved decoration, the south and northeast faces depict two stylised trees while on the east face are two-chip carved circles. one above the other. The remaining faces have large rosettes. The benches in the nave have a curved arm rest, the wooden pulpit is octagonal and the choir stalls have wooden panelled fronts decorated with blind cusped arches. Between the stalls, in the floor of the chancel is an Elizabethan tomb stone dedicated to William Gibbons of Trecastle and dated 1584. The stained glass: ‘The Crucifixion with the nativity and the Resurrection’, Joseph Bell & Son, 1868; ‘Decorative windows’ x2, by Joseph Bell & Son, 1868, these contain heraldic emblems of the Samuel Gibbons family, a shield to the left and a boar’s head to the right. There are two bells which have survived from the earlier building one dated C15 the other C17 with no clue as to where they were cast.
