Summary Description

Strata Florida Abbey was the burial place of the Princes of Deheubarth, set where the Afon Teifi emerges from the hills, it was founded in 1164 by Robert Fitz Stephen. It was a Cistercian Abbey, a daughter house to Whitland. The parish of Caron uwch Clawdd extends eastwards to include the upper reaches of the Claerwen reservoir.
