Summary Description

Aberdyfi looks out over the wide sands (at low tide) of the Dovey estuary. There has probably been some settlement here since Llywelyn the Great held his Council of Aberdyfi in 1216 when he imposed his authority on the Princes of Deheubarth and Powys. The town developed as a seaport for Corris slate and then following the arrival of the railway in 1863, as a holiday resort. References Buildings of Wales – Gwynedd 2009
