Summary Description

Llanberis lies in the heart of Snowdonia beneath Mount Snowdon and it is from this settlement that the rack and pinion railway rises to the summit. The slate quarries; Dinorwic and Glynrhondwy were the cause of the town’s development situated between two lakes. T. Rowland Hughes was a native of the town and encapsulated the quarrying communities in his novels Reference Buildings of Wales –Gwynedd 2009 The Encyclopaedia of Wales
