Although now in Wrexham CBC the area was formerly part of Maelor Saesneg and Worthenbury is now a nucleated village in the midst of Welsh field pattern. In the 2001 census it was the area of Wrexham with the least Welsh speakers. Reference The Encyclopaedia of Wales Buildings of Wales – Clwyd 2003
